Starting this Saturday there will be free recreational and sporting classes held at Baiyun Mountain every weekend. The courses will be conducted by 11 experienced and respected teachers.
Various courses available
The courses cover a variety of subjects including Ballroom dancing, Tai Ji Quan (Ì«¼«È), Tai Ji Jian (Ì«¼«½£), Yueju Opera, martial arts, choral music, Chinese traditional folk dance and so on.
Teachers chosen from more than 70 applicants
The 11 teachers were carefully selected from more than 70 applications. According to the administration, many of these teachers are veteran educators who are already very popular locally.
The teachers are not allowed to profit financially from the courses. However, they have been awarded official appointing letters from the Baiyun Mountain Administrative Bureau.
The volunteer teachers are all very proud of their new posts. ¡°Rain or shine, I will be there, as long as there are people willing to learn!¡± said one of them.
A time-honored recreational center
Long before the initiation of the program there have been many similar activities at Baiyun Mountain. For the local population, especially for senior citizens, the mountain is a renowned recreational center. Every morning people come to exercise and socialize in the clean, crisp air of Baiyunshan.
