Tens of Thousands of Fishes Die in Freezing Weather

Weeks-long freezing weather condemned tens of thousands of fishes to death in the Liuhua Lake Park in Guangzhou downtown, China during the past nine days.

The dead schools are found floating everywhere on the lake, mostly at the corners, for a week. They do not smell, but have polluted some part of the water into whitesome color.

A dozen of staff members of this local popular park keep collecting the corpse on boats everyday. The daily maximum collection was five boats. Some bodies are still uncollected. It is estimated the dead weigh tens of thousands of kilograms in total.

The corpse is discarded as garbage.

Most of the victim fishes are tropical species Nile Tilapia, that could not stand the rare long-time freezingness.

"I've not seen so many fishes dead for years until now!" Some of those who often went to the park sighed.
