Automatic check-in counters are available for passengers with electronic tickets and who are traveling with no luggage to check. To check in, passengers present their ID card of the second generation which is read by the computer and all relevant information about the flight is automatically displayed on the screen.

Then, according to the steps presented by the machine, passengers can choose their seating and have the boarding card printed.The system is designed to take one minute, or even 30 minutes for a passenger to check in.
Currently, the automatic check-in system is be available for passengers traveling on planes operated by companies such as China Southern Airlines, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Shangdong Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.
Since they were installed over one month ago, more than 500 passengers check in every day through the automatic counters.
There are four automatic check-in counters located in the departure halls (L and M). Six more counters will go into service this month. Next year, the number will increase to 30, the largest number in China.
