The 1-0 victory ended Guangzhou's exile away from Chinese top division for nine years, thanks to substitute Gaoming's header in the second half.
Guangzhou, still unbeaten, tops the Division 1 by 12 points clear over the 3-place Jiangsu, with three rounds ahead. The top two teams will be promoted.

Ex-veteran midfielder of Guangzhou Peng Weiguo cried for joy after the match. He used to be a Chinese national player and Guangzhou's playmaker in their heyday from 1990 to 1995, when the team ever bagged runners-up twice in Chinese top division. He is also the coach of Shanghai Qidouxing now.
