On September 9, the Yuexiu District Youth Ancient National Studies Academy officially opened in Guangzhou.
40 Grade 1 pupils from Wende Road Primary School in Guangzhou attended a special class opening ceremony at the Panyu Studies Palace on the former site of the Guangzhou Peasant Movement Institute. During the ceremony, in line with traditions, the schoolchildren presented tea to their parents, and some of the parents were moved to tears.
The Ancient National Studies Academy will not only recruit primary and secondary students, but also provide lectures on filial duties, etiquettes and other subjects in Ancient National Studies.
The Academy has hired seven experts in Ancient National Studies as teachers. Officials with the Datang sub-district office said that the Academy will provide recruit pupilsfrom time to time and lecture on the thoughts of Mencius and Confucius and the Analects of Confucius.
At present, the Academy is open to primary and secondary school students. Pupils may apply for a place at the academy on a voluntary basis. The academy charges a modest amount of tuition fees to cover program costs.
